Sudarshan Kriya Yoga (SKY) is one of the most unique and advanced rhythmic breathing techniques with its roots in traditional yoga. It is the hallmark technique taught in several programs of the Art of Living Foundation globally. Millions of people around the world have benefited from SKY practice. The practice of SKY has been associated with improved mental wellbeing and physical health. Several other benefits like improved quality of life, stronger interpersonal relationship, greater happiness and resilience are reported by the practitioners.
SKY and associated benefits have been of a great interest to scientists and researchers. Over the last 23 years more than 150 original research studies and review articles have been published on SKY in peer reviewed scientific journals. Research on SKY has been conducted in many countries across 5 continents.
Scientists have extensively studied the benefit of SKY on different aspect of human life and health. Studies measure the impact of SKY on physical health including our nervous system, immune system, endocrine system etc. They also assess how SKY changes our life : our mental health, happiness, social connectedness etc.
The white paper series on SKY encapsulates and curates the entire research on SKY from 1998-2021. In an effort to capture the multitude of studies and variety in the outcomes studied, the scientific studies have been divided into 2 sections and 19 categories as mentioned in the table below. Each category comprises a White Paper, which is a detailed document that contains the summaries of all the research article relevant to the topic. It also contains brief overview of all the research findings. The infographics are succinct visual depictions of the research findings.
